I have reluctantly agreed to go on my boy's (John, Austin, & Jamison's) Annual Colorado Camping / Landcruiser Trail Running trip. (Also referred to as "100s in the Hills"). I am ashamed to admit that I don't really like camping and I am terrified of the high, rocky, scary trails that John insists taking his Landcruiser on. Terrified to the brink of, well...just imagine! To be medically airlifted off the side of a mountain I understand can be upwards of $35,000. Good to know, doesn't make me feel any better. In fact, that kind of makes things worse.
So, pray that we don't encounter black or grizzly bears, mountain lions, snakes, spiders, the possibility of falling off a cliff, falling down a canyon, getting swept down a stream, sleeping on some very rocky ground, cooking on a camp stove, gritty food, cactus, and everything else that goes with "primitive camping." Maybe I will come back with a new found love for the great outdoors or maybe I will realize it is just not for me and I was foolish to try. At any rate I am assured that I will come back with many, many new column ideas....so be on the lookout! But, one thing is absolutely certain....we are making memories!
